Membership of the RSL, not to be confused with membership of the Services Club, is divided into two different categories.
- Service Members
- RSL Citizen and Women’s Auxiliaries
Service Membership is open to any person who has served in the Australian Defence Force, or served with or supported or was otherwise engaged with the Australian Defence Force or the Armed Forces of its Allies, for at least six months, or any other person provided for in the League By-Laws.
RSL Citizen’s and Women’s Auxiliaries
Any person (18 years and over) can become a member of a Citizen’s Auxiliary. Children (12 years and over) related to a parent or child guardian who is a current member of the Citizen’s Auxiliary are also eligible to join.
Traditionally, female relatives (18 years and over) of a serving, discharged or deceased member of a Commonwealth or Allied military force can become a member of a Women’s Auxiliary. Today, members of a Women’s Auxiliary may by resolution admit any female who does not meet the above criteria. Women who are eligible for Service Membership are also eligible for full membership in any Auxiliary Branch.
